Bringing the student and faculty voice to the table

My reasons for running for WCC Trustee include ensuring that the college is accessible and equitable for all students, especially given the unprecedented times we continue to experience. I am looking forward to advocating for the needs of the students, faculty, and staff of Waubonsee Community College and work with and for the campus community.

I am a former teacher, a community organizer, and a doctoral student. In the past five years, I have worked as a Heritage Spanish High School Teacher in the Fox Valley area, where I advocated for students affected by immigration and educational access issues that have impacted their academic experience and therefore, held educational stakeholders accountable. I am the oldest daughter of Salvadoran migrants, having fled the country’s civil war in 1992 while my mother was three months pregnant with me. I am the first in my family to pursue a doctoral program and the first in my family to graduate from university in the U.S. Likewise, I am a Ph.D. student at Illinois State University, studying educational administration and foundations in order to pass on knowledge to my community and ultimately work with students as they navigate opportunities for advanced degrees.

If you would like to support me in this effort, a $10 donation to my campaign will go a long way for the campus community. You can make a secure gift online by clicking on the CONTRIBUTE tab of the menu.
